Fact: Personal branding is currently the single most effective way to promote your business

I am helping founders find new ways to promote their businesses. Over my many years in business, I have leveraged a strong profile in my industry and on social media, particularly LinkedIn. I’ve found that building a personal brand is the shortcut to exposure and attention for your business.

A strong personal brand is an asset that you can take with you anywhere, and leverage for whatever you are working on. It’s a valuable tool that you own.

Now I’m helping founders and senior leaders build their own profiles on LinkedIn.

Why LinkedIn?

Most people are getting LinkedIn wrong, plain and simple. They’re either shouting about their businesses to an empty room or posting random content that no one cares about.

But here’s the reality: LinkedIn isn’t just a platform to fill with shower thoughts and sales pitches. It’s the ultimate way to build influence, grow your business, and become an authority in your space.

With over 1 billion subscribers and 140 million active daily users, LinkedIn offers a massive audience—if you know how to cut through the noise. Personal profiles get 10x more visibility than company pages. That’s a huge opportunity to tell stories, build relationships, and—eventually—sell. But it takes time, strategy, and consistency.

I truly believe that building a strong personal profile is currently the single best way for a founder to promote their business.

Why? Because people buy from people. If potential clients are influenced by you—your insights, your authority, your presence—they’re much more likely to buy from your business. It’s about creating influence, not just connections.

And the harsh truth? Promoting your business on LinkedIn is expensive if you pay, and extremely hard if you want to do it organically because LinkedIn gives about 10x LESS visibility to organisations on the platform than they do to people.

Why You Can’t Do It Yourself

Problem 1: “This month I’m going to start writing content and posting daily on LinkedIn!”, said every founder at some point.

We’ve all set that goal for ourselves, and almost all of us have let it fall off a cliff pretty quickly afterwards. Let’s be honest—managing LinkedIn effectively is practically a full-time job. It’s not just about posting the occasional update or sharing a clever thought; it’s about building a real strategy, posting daily, engaging with your audience, and navigating LinkedIn’s ever-changing algorithm. Most people who try to do it themselves quickly realise it’s overwhelming and time-consuming.

Founders often start with the best intentions to nail their LinkedIn strategy. They know it’s important, and they plan to prioritise it, but then the reality of running a business kicks in. Client issues, internal meetings, product launches—all these things start to take precedence, and LinkedIn ends up at the bottom of the list. Suddenly, the consistency needed to build a strong presence disappears, and the profile stagnates. You‘re back at square one.

Problem 2: “I’ve just had a very clever and completely unique thought that I’m going to post on LinkedIn and get loads of attention!” - proceeds to get 100 impressions and 7 likes, most of which are from your suppliers or staff.

Yeah, that’s never going to work. You have to post about things that are relevant to the audience on LinkedIn to get any form of traction on your content and account. This means mixing up your primary messaging with content that people will actually want to read.

Problem 3: “I’ve got great content, so I’ll post it and watch my account go to the moon.”

I hate to tell you but it’s a little more complicated than that. Firstly, every article I’ve ever read bout LinkedIn’s algorithm has some truth but is never the whole picture. What is popular on LinkedIn changes all the time, as does the algorithm. You need to be highly attuned to what’s going on and adapt content and styles to suit, and get your profile and strategy spot on to have a fighting chance of success.

In short, here is why it’s nearly impossible to do this alone:

  • Consistency is key. LinkedIn rewards consistent activity, and that means posting content daily—even on weekends. But life gets in the way, and most people can’t stick to that schedule.

  • Know your audience. Most people simply don’t get how to produce popular content. Sorry, but no one is going to find your personal thoughts interesting. If you don’t focus on what your audience wants to hear, your posts will go nowhere.

  • Engagement isn’t just likes. It’s not enough to post and walk away. You need to engage with your audience, reply to comments, and strategically interact with other influencers to keep your profile visible. Doing this every day can easily become a full-time job.

  • The algorithm changes constantly. LinkedIn’s algorithm doesn’t stay the same, so what worked last month may not work now. Keeping up with these changes requires time, research, and experimentation.

  • You need a strategy. Random posting without a clear plan won’t get you anywhere. Building a personal brand that aligns with your business goals takes careful planning and a tailored content strategy.

Founders often underestimate how much time and energy it takes to maintain a strong LinkedIn presence. That’s where I come in. Leave it to an expert who can manage your LinkedIn while you focus on what you do best—growing your business.

What I’ve Achieved

I’ve walked this journey myself for years, and in 2024 started learning and growing with the best creators on LinkedIn. The mighty Chris Donnelly, with almost 900K followers (and was one of my advisory clients!), and his brilliant agency, have taught me a massive amount about LinkedIn and my account is now booming as a result of their incredible efforts.

When we started pushing my account this year I started with 20,000 followers, and this year alone I’ve grown to over 64,000 followers. That’s 44,000 new followers in 2024 alone, and it wasn’t by accident.

The strategy focuses on engagement, consistency, and delivering value to my audience. The results? Massive visibility.

  • I’ve achieved over 29 million impressions in just 8 months, with regular viral posts reaching over 1 million impressions each.

  • One post alone gained me 2,400 followers

  • My engagement hit 360,000 likes and comments.

  • As a result, I’m now attracting opportunities and contacts daily—from sponsorships to partnerships and everything in between. This isn’t about posting for the sake of it—it’s about creating real business results.

Now I’m bringing all my experience to other founders and business leaders.

If you’re a founder or business leader, this is your moment to step up. A personal profile is not just an asset, it’s your most powerful marketing tool. Once you build an engaged audience, they’re with you for the long haul. Every post, every comment is a chance to show your expertise, gain trust, and drive more visibility to your business.

It’s not just about posting. We’ll make sure your content gets seen, build key relationships, and ensure you’re interacting with the right people to grow your influence and your business. This will also include daily engagement (7 days per week) from my own account, and engagement with your audience (7 days per week). In addition, I will use my extensive network and growing influence to bring other people to help promote your growth.

  • Regular review meetings
We’ll meet on fortnightly meetings to discuss the performance of the account, content production, and strategy.

Pricing

I price this service differently to most, and I want to tell you why. I see two types of organisations that offer personal brand strategy and management for LinkedIn.

The first is for people who want to heavily invest their marketing budgets into their founders or senior people. These types of companies are few and far between, but most offer an amazing level of service. One such company is Lever Brands, who I work with too. They are brilliant at what they do and have a stable of growing accounts that is simply staggering. They are easily the best in the market. They also charge premium pricing, while offering exceptional value for money.

The second is the huge range of ‘LinkedIn experts’ that seem to have flooded social media. The vast majority don’t know the first thing about growing an audience on LinkedIn. They are cheap … and nasty. They will most likely make no difference to your account and could harm it. They will almost certainly not achieve a decent following and the content they produce will be below average, at best. These people charge very little and make their service look like a bargain. You get what you pay for.

I have spent a lot of effort to put a team together, as well as processes, to find a sweet spot in the middle for people who can’t necessarily afford a top-class service like Lever Brands, but who don’t want to risk dealing with a ‘LinkedIn’ expert.

My pricing is right in the middle, at £1,900 + VAT per month, with a low setup fee of £1,550 + VAT

I’m picky about who I work with, and for good reason: I want to ensure that I can deliver what you need, and I need to ensure that you can.
